One of the largest National M&E Contractors in the UK, renowned for their dedication to training and development, is strengthening their Yorkshire business due to significant growth within the healthcare sector.

We are searching for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to take the lead on major, high-value Healthcare projects across the region (e.g., hospitals, critical care units). This is a critical delivery role for an individual who is hungry for progression and ready to manage technically complex, sensitive schemes.


 

The Role: Specialist Delivery Leadership & Operational Excellence

This is a pivotal operational role requiring strong leadership, technical understanding, and experience navigating the unique demands of the healthcare environment. The Mechanical Project Manager will lead site teams and report to the Senior Project Manager/Operations Manager.

  • Core Objective: Assume full responsibility for leading the mechanical package delivery on major Healthcare projects in the Yorkshire region, ensuring compliance, quality, patient safety protocols, and strict programme targets are met.

  • Key Responsibilities:

    • Project Leadership: Successfully manage the entire mechanical installation process (HVAC, critical ventilation, medical gases, public health), ensuring delivery meets budget, quality, and rigorous safety standards required in healthcare settings.

    • Team & Subcontractor Management: Build, lead, and mentor high-performing site teams, managing subcontractors to maintain productivity and quality control.

    • Technical Oversight: Collaborate closely with the site engineer to manage technical queries, ensure compliance with HTM/HBN standards, and oversee critical commissioning phases.

    • Operational Oversight: Manage programme scheduling, site logistics, and coordination with the electrical teams and main contractor, minimizing disruption in live environments.

  • Impact: This role is directly responsible for delivering essential mechanical infrastructure within critical care facilities, upholding the company's reputation for quality and expertise in complex building services.


 

Candidate Requirements

We are seeking an experienced, commercially aware, and technically grounded Project Manager:

  • Experience: Extensive experience successfully managing and delivering major mechanical packages specifically on Healthcare projects (Hospitals, PFI schemes, laboratories) for an M&E contractor.

  • Expertise: Strong technical knowledge of specialist mechanical building services systems common in healthcare (e.g., critical ventilation/air handling, HTM compliance, BMS integration). Proven commercial acumen in managing contract variations and risk.

  • Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services (HND/HNC/Degree).
